Frequently Asked Questions
My daughter does not have any experience?
Our studio’s non-competitive classes provide an excellent introduction to our program for beginner dancers. We offer combination classes designed to build confidence and teach foundational dance skills through choreography, across-the-floor combinations, stretching, and Ballet technique. Participants in our non-competitive programs have the opportunity to perform twice annually, showcasing their progress at both the Winter and Spring Showcases.

I've tried calling and emailing with no response.
Thank you for reaching out to us. As a small family-owned business, our staff primarily works evenings to accommodate class schedules following school hours. Consequently, we are usually not available in the studio during the mornings and early afternoons. However, we make every effort to respond to messages promptly. If you contact us in the evenings and do not receive a response, it may be because our Office Manager is unavailable at that time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Can my dancer take a trial class before we register?
Certainly! We offer the opportunity for dancers to try out a class before completing the full registration process to ensure it meets their expectations. The fee for each trial class is $25, which will be applied towards your Studio Membership Fee if you decide to proceed with registration. We recommend that your dancer attends the specific class you intend to register for. Additionally, we suggest completing the online registration process to secure their spot on the roster and avoid the possibility of the class filling up before the trial is completed.
We do recommend that your dancer attends the actual class that you intend to register for. In addition, it is best if you go ahead and register online to place your dancer on the roster so that we expect them for a trial and that they do not lose their spot in class should the class fill up.
Do you offer refunds?
Refunds are considered on a case to case basis. Please contact our Office Manager for further information.
What are the Showcases about?
Our non-competitive programs feature two annual performances: the Winter Showcase and the Spring Showcase. Dancers practice choreography in class to perform onstage. The Winter Showcase takes place in our Gym at DW, typically the first weekend in December, while the Spring Recital is held at The Stafford Centre, usually the first weekend in May.
Can we opt out of the Showcases?
Yes, you may opt out of the performances; however, it is uncommon for dancers to choose this option. If you decide to withdraw from the showcases, you will not incur Showcase Performance Fees, and your dancer will not receive a costume on the designated pick-up day.
What is your dress attire?
To view your dancer’s specific dress code, please use the drop-down menu to select "Studio Classes" and then choose their age group. This will direct you to a page where you can review the required uniform. DW offers leotards that comply with the dress code policy, available for purchase at our studio if you wish to obtain them here.
How do I become a member of the Dance Works Company?
To join our competitive team, we require dancers to complete at least one year in our non-competitive program to develop the necessary skills and experience. Auditions for The Company are conducted in May, with a final evaluation taking place during the summer.
