The Company & Contest Information

Thanks for checking out our Competitive Program! Being on our Company Team means dancing with a group that works hard, builds strong technique, and has a great time performing together. We train in a variety of styles and attend several competitions in the spring—we love the experience, and our dancers take in the judges’ feedback to grow and come back even stronger the next year. It’s a fun, supportive environment where dancers build confidence, teamwork, and performance skills that can carry over into middle and high school drill teams.

TINY COMPANY

DW & Co. Tiny Company
For dancers ages 4–7

Our Tiny Company is the perfect starting point for our younger dancers ready to take on the competitive world! Dancers are placed into different levels to make sure they’re in the right spot to grow, learn, and have fun. We take pride in thoughtfully placing each dancer where they’ll feel confident and supported, setting them up for success both now and in the future.

Tiny Company dancers have class once or twice a week, depending on how many routines they’re part of. It’s a great way to build technique, teamwork, and stage presence while still keeping it fun and age-appropriate.

Dress Code: Dance Works provides the leotard. Please wear solid black shorts or leggings—no prints, colors, or logos.

MINI COMPANY

DW & Co. 7–9 Year Old Company
Our Mini Company is for dancers ages 7–9

Mini Company is where dancers start to dive deeper into their training and performance experience! With multiple levels within the team, we’re able to place each dancer in the group that best supports their growth. We take great pride in our thoughtful placement process, making sure every dancer is set up to thrive and feel confident.

Minis train 2–3 days a week, depending on how many routines they’re selected for. Along with team dances, dancers can also try out to perform solos, duets, or trios—giving them the chance to perform both individually and as part of a group. The Mini Company is fun, challenging, and a rewarding experience that helps build strong technique, performance skills, and a real love for dance.

YOUTH COMPANY

DW & Co. Youth Company
For dancers ages 10–12

Youth Company classes are more fast-paced, and expectations rise as dancers mature. We encourage them to take more responsibility in how they train, perform, and show up in class—reflecting their growth both as dancers and individuals.

Dancers are placed in levels that match their current ability and potential, giving them the best chance to succeed and improve. Youth Company members train 2–3 days a week, depending on how many routines they’re cast in. They may also be selected for solos, duets, or trios in addition to team dances.

This stage is all about refining technique, building performance confidence, and developing the discipline needed for long-term success in dance.

JUNIOR & SENIOR COMPANY

DW & Co. Junior/Senior Company
For dancers ages 13 and up

At the Junior/Senior level, classes and training becomes more intense and dancers take on greater responsibility for their progress and performance. On this team, dancers learn to balance hard work with artistic expression.

Dancers are carefully placed by skill and potential to ensure they’re both challenged and supported. Training usually happens 2–3 days a week depending on routines, with chances to perform solos, duets, or trios alongside team dances.

We know many of our Junior and Senior dancers go on to join their high school drill teams, and we fully support and are so proud of each one of them! Along with regular classes, dancers also benefit from specialized workshops and master classes designed to refine their technique and stage presence. This is a stage of focused growth, discipline, and exciting achievements.

COMPETITION INFORMATION

Competition season takes place during the spring semester, running from January through May and ending with Dance Works’ End-of-Year Showcase in May. During this time, our company dancers have the opportunity to perform their routines and showcase the dedication and hard work they’ve put in all year with the support of their instructors.

This season is both exciting and demanding, as dancers are challenged to stay focused and give their best effort at every practice and competition. We expect our dancers to bring 100% commitment throughout, knowing that this intense period is where all their hard work comes together. It’s a rewarding time for everyone involved, filled with growth, teamwork, and memorable experiences!
